Truth About Abs ExercisesI bought Truth About Abs a few months ago, and I love all the information in the book.  The best part, in my opinion, is the exercises.  Not only do these exercises focus on your abdomen, but they also strength your core.  Some of the exercises work, the whole body, including you arms, legs, and chest.

In the book, Mike Geary describes the abdominal muscles breakdown and functions.  He then goes over the proper body position for abdominal training. Next, he goes over resistance, frequency, and duration of ab training.  Finally, he recommends some ab exercises.

The book first goes over the exercises that are bad for you, the ones you should avoid.  These bad ab exercises include any machine-based ab exercise and sit-ups with your feet supported.  Then the book focuses on the good exercises, the ones you should be doing.  These good ab exercises include hanging leg raises, ab scissors, and ab bicycles.

There are about 30 different exercises listed in the book, all of them with detail explanations and most of them with pictures.  The best part is that most of the exercises can be done outside of the gym.  Almost all of them can be done with no equipment at all.  Add in a stability ball and some dumbbells and you can do all but two of the exercises.  The last two exercises need a pull up bar.

In the final part of the exercise section of the book, Mike gives you eight levels of ab workouts.  These workouts take 5 to 8 minutes per day, and it is recommended you work your abs two times per week.  That’s only 10 minutes a week to a flat, sexy stomach.
